The January 2026 ASSISTments Release is here, and it’s packed with new features designed to make math practice easier for students and more flexible for teachers.
This release focuses on three high‑impact improvements we’ve heard teachers ask for again and again: a centralized Student Homepage, Student Groups for targeted instruction, and the ability to edit student scores directly in ASSISTments. Together, these updates streamline daily workflows for students, support differentiated learning, and give teachers greater control over assignment data.
A New Student Homepage: All Assignments, One Place
Students already juggle a lot with multiple classes, platforms, and due dates. The new Student Homepage (available at student.assistments.org) simplifies that experience by giving students one place to see everything they need to complete in ASSISTments.

What’s new for students
The Student Homepage allows students to:
- Access all ASSISTments assignments in one place
- See assignment progress at a glance, including completed, incomplete, and overdue work
- Easily view and sort assignments based on assignment type, completion status, date or title
- Quickly review teacher feedback on open response problems
Why it matters: When students can easily find their work, track progress, and respond to feedback, they’re more likely to stay engaged and take ownership of their learning.
Student Groups: Targeted Assigning for Precise Teaching
Supporting students at various learning levels has never been easier in ASSISTments. With Student Groups, teachers can now create small, flexible groups within a class and assign work based on student needs.

What teachers can do with Student Groups
- Create multiple groups within a single class for targeted support
- Add students to more than one group, depending on learning needs
- Filter reports by group to analyze performance at both the assignment and class level
Why it matters: Teachers can quickly assign targeted to a group of students, and instantly see how those students are progressing, without duplicating assignments or classes.
Edit Student Scores
Auto-grading doesn’t always capture what students truly understand. With Edit Student Scores, teachers now have the flexibility to adjust scores directly in ASSISTments, without extra work in the grade book.

How score editing works
Teachers can now:
- Edit a student’s score for a specific problem directly in the Assignment Report
- Award partial credit, especially for multiple‑response or multi‑step problems
- Change scores at your own discretion
When a score is edited, the score chip turns blue, making changes easy to identify. The updated score is used for reporting and grade book sync.
Why it matters: Teachers no longer have to switch back and forth between ASSISTments and the LMS grade book.
Built for Real Classrooms
The January 2026 ASSISTments Release reflects ongoing feedback from educators, partners, and researchers who use ASSISTments every day. Whether you’re supporting students across learning levels, managing differentiated instruction, or simply trying to save time, these features are designed to meet real classroom needs.
We’re excited to see how you use the new Student Homepage, Student Groups, and flexible scoring tools to support student learning this winter.
