Neil Heffernan

Dr. Heffernan is the William Smith Dean’s Professor of Computer Science and Director of Learning Sciences and Technologies Program at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He is the co-creator of ASSISTments along with his wife, Cristina Heffernan. ASSISTments received the highest ranking possible from What Works Clearinghouse and has received millions of dollars in funding from the federal government and philanthropic organizations. Heffernan received his undergraduate degree from Amherst College and his Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University in 2001.
