Angela Bahng is a Senior Program Officer at the Gates Foundation, where she leads U.S. grantmaking for the Assessment Initiative. In this role, Angela has directed multimillion-dollar investments in equitable, formative assessments designed to transform accountability systems and significantly improve outcomes for underserved students.
She oversees cross-organizational partnerships spanning EdTech leaders, district systems, and nonprofit assessment providers—managing large-scale projects and grant portfolios that integrate product development with policy and classroom impact. Her recent efforts include launching the Innovative Assessment Community of Practice, a convening that brings together assessment vendors and sector experts to refine and scale cutting-edge tools.
Before joining Gates, Angela served as Director of Assessment at Curriculum Associates, building deep expertise in instructional tools and assessment design. With over 20 years in education and technology, she brings a unique combination of strategic vision, operational rigor, and market aligned funding discipline.
Angela’s grantmaking approach emphasizes sustainability and impact, supporting grantees to build capacity in business development, strategic partnerships, and scalability.
